Volunteer Tax Preparation Services

Please review the following important details to ensure a smooth process:
Appointment Information
Location
Daniels College of Business, Room 330
(2101 S. University Blvd., Denver, CO 80210).
Parking is available around campus.
Requirements
The VITA Program offers free tax help for taxpayers making $67,000 or less.
All individuals signing the return must be present as well.
Time Commitment
Plan to be at the site for approximately two hours.
Arrive 15 minutes early to complete necessary forms.
What to Bring
Wages and Earnings Statements
- W-2 forms from employers
- 1099 forms for contract work
- Interest and dividends income statements
- Social Security benefits
- Unemployment income
- Tip: If it’s related to money you earned in the previous year, bring it.
Documents Related to Income Adjustments
- Student loan interest paid statements
- Education expenses (teachers)
- Closing documentation if you purchased a home
Receipts & Statements for Additional Credits & Deductions
- Education (Tuition Statements)
- Child care costs
- Medical expenses
- Charitable donations
Personal Information
Ensure you have Social Security or ITIN numbers for yourself, your spouse, and any dependents before filing your taxes.
Important Notes
- If you do not have all the required information, we will not be able to assist you that day.
- The VITA Program only offers free assistance for taxpayers making $67,000 or less.
- If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance so we can open the appointment slot to others.
- Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country. Most locations offer free electronic filing.
